Foundation Course
This course provides an introduction to coaching and refereeing the 15-a-side game. The course has an emphasis on the core skills, game elements, and coaching and refereeing principles involved at all levels of Under U13-U19 and senior Rugby.
For each element of the game (ie attack, defence, scrum, lineout, tackle, ruck, maul, etc) the course will cover: The relevant Laws, tactics to be employed by players and coaches, correct techniques to be taught to players, practical coaching advice such as relevant drills, and referee management (where to stand, what communication to use, etc).
Does the course incorporate SmartRugby?
Yes. If you attend this course, you will be covered for SmartRugby and do NOT have to attend a stand-alone SmartRugby course.
Who is the course aimed at?
People who are involved in junior rugby (U12s to U19) or senior rugby as coaches, referees, parents or club volunteers. This course is the first step in gaining Level 1 Coach and Level 1 Referee accreditations.
