Development Rugby Objectives
Our aim is to share the joy of Rugby with as many people in NSW as we possibly can.
Our game is owned by the people who are involved in Rugby and ultimately, these owners are the ones who will be most effective in growing the game.
Our game is owned by the people who are involved in Rugby and ultimately, these owners are the ones who will be most effective in growing the game.
Our objective is to grow the total number of Rugby participants by growing each individual area of the game:
-
Walla Rugby
(two handed touch played in the Under 6 & 7 age groups)
-
Mini Rugby
(introductory contact Rugby played in the Under 8 & 9 age groups)
-
Midi Rugby
(evolving contact Rugby played in the Under 10 & 11 age groups)
-
Junior Rugby
(modified laws for Under 12 – Under 19 age groups)
-
Schools Rugby
(both Primary and High School levels)
-
Senior Rugby
(played in accordance with international laws).
It follows that if we can introduce players to the game when they are in the primary school age groups, and then provide an enjoyable experience through good coaching and good competition (played in the right spirit), we will see these players stay with the game through much of their life.
Our growth objectives are also defined on a geographic basis – we are looking to grow the game in both the city and the rural and regional areas of NSW.
Growth in each district and zone is an important element of our approach, as is the need to increase our involvement in school sport – at both primary and secondary levels, and in both the public and private education systems.
