Despite making 24 Super Rugby appearances in the three seasons prior, 2009 was by far Daniel Halangahu’s best season for the Waratahs. Forcing his way into the starting XV against the Blues in round seven, Halangahu hung onto the No.10 jersey and kicking duties for the remainder of the year. He maintained his form for Sydney University in the Tooheys New Shute Shield where he finished second in the Ken Catchpole Medal count despite not taking the field until mid-season.
