While he only earned one cap for the Waratahs in 2008, Halangahu earned a place in the Australia A side for the IRB Pacific Nations Cup and was a key fixture in Sydney University’s fourth title win in as many years, claiming his third straight Grand Final man of the match award. Halangahu continued that form through the Junior Waratahs Development Tour of Fiji where he took on a leading role both on and off the field.
Halangahu was educated at The King’s School, vice-captaining Australia at schoolboy level in 2002. He signed an Academy deal with the ACT the following year, representing Australia at U19 and U21 level, before signing with the Waratah Academy in mid-2005. The 24-year-old also lends a lot of his time away from the Rugby field to mentoring indigenous children.
