The future of NSW Rugby will be on show on Sunday 27 July when the NSW Junior Rugby Union hosts the annual City v Country fixtures at Woollahra Oval in Sydney.

Matches will take place for Under 14, Under 15, Under 16 and Under 17s at the highest level of representative Rugby in NSW for those age groups.

Participants in NSW Country and Sydney teams represent the best junior talent from all corners of NSW. Players have made it through a selection process involving the State Championships and Regional Championships.

The Sydney Under 16s began their preparation for their clash with Country U16s by assembling at NSW Rugby headquarters earlier this week. The squad took part in a team-building session run by Be Challenged, game plan sessions, gear distribution as well as training in the Moore Park sporting precinct.

The NSW Country Juniors Under 16 team commenced their preparation with training camps at Hunter, Myuna Bay and Port Macquarie and games against CHS.

The Under 16s clash is the first step in their preparation for the Australian Under 16 Championships which will be staged in Brisbane in September. Both Sydney and NSW Country Juniors will take part in the national championships alongside the NSW Schools Under 16 side.

NSWJRU teams will be selected in the Under 15 and Under 17 age groups following their respective City v Country clashes, with the state teams going on to play Queensland and ACT later in the year.

The Under 14s City-Country clash will see Sydney Junior champions Parramatta take on the winners of the Country Regional tournament.
