Former Brumbies and Auckland Blues Super 14 coach David Nucifora, Queensland Reds coach Phil Mooney and former Wallabies Ross Reynolds and Al Kanaar will all take part in Sydney University Football Club's Annual Golf Day at Pennant Hills Golf Club on 15 July 2008.
The trio will compete against more than thirty teams during the eighteen-hole tournament to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research and support at Cancer Council NSW.
Players will battle for the coveted BMW Cup and a swag of top prizes. Competitors will also have the opportunity to bid for a signed Webb Ellis Cup Captains' lithograph and a jumper carrying the signature of world-renowned Brazilian footballer Pele.
"The players and supporters of the Club are very keen to play their part in fighting pancreatic cancer and we hope that this will be the start of an ongoing relationship with the Cancer Council," said Ray Dearlove, Sydney University Rugby Club General Manager.
Andrew Penman, CEO of Cancer Council in NSW, said: "Pancreatic cancer is one of the most devastating types of cancer. It takes more than 650 lives in NSW each year and has a survival rate of less then seven per cent.
"Worryingly, it remains almost as lethal today as it was more than a century ago. Funds raised will search for new treatments and ways of improving pancreatic cancer patients' quality of life."
BMW Sydney is one of the proud sponsors of the golf day. Entry forms are available at www.cancercouncil.com.au - search under 'golf day'. To donate to the Cancer Councils Pancreatic Cancer Fund, please call (02) 9334 1982.
