The top two teams in the competition suffered rare defeats today as Warringah and Eastern Suburbs inflicted upsets in Round 16 of the Tooheys New Shute Shield.

Randwick were the only team in the top four to score a victory, with Eastwood's thrashing of Penrith not enough to get into the top six with the upsets from the fifth and sixth-placed teams.
