Nine players will be released from the Wallaby squad this weekend to play club Rugby in the Tooheys New Shute Shield.

Seven HSBC Waratahs and two Brumbies will return to their Sydney clubs for Round 15 of the competition which has been bolstered by the return of Super 14 and national squad members throughout the season.

In the ABC TV Match of the Day, Lachie Turner and Matt Dunning will return for Eastwood as they take on second-placed Gordon.

Dan Vickerman will return from injury for Sydney University alongside Dean Mumm, and will take on a Northern Suburbs outfit which includes Ben Alexander.

Penrith will have their work cut out taking on a Randwick side which features Adam Freier, while fellow hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau will turn out for Parramatta against Southern Districts in his first match since the Super 14 Final.

George Smith will join his brother Tyrone in the Manly side to take on West Harbour, while Brett Sheehan will turn out for Warringah against an Eastern Suburbs side which features Clyde Rathbone.

Wallaby coach Robbie Deans says the decision was based on their policy of securing players additional game time, outside of the national team environment, where it was needed to further their individual preparations for internationals.

Squad members are judged on a case by case basis in terms of what is best, both for the individuals concerned, and for the team.

The Wallabies are currently in camp at Manly but break up on Thursday afternoon, before reassembling in Perth on Sunday ahead of their Tri-Nations opener against South Africa at Subiaco on 19 July.
