About the Waratahs The Waratahs are the professional representative rugby team for New South Wales and compete in the Super Rugby competition. As the oldest provincial rugby body in the southern hemisphere, the Waratahs’ history dates back 139 years to the establishment of the Southern Rugby Football Union. In 1892 this became the NSW Rugby Union with the introduction of the Waratah logo and the Cambridge blue jersey. Established by NSWRU as a separate entity in 2011, Waratahs Rugby administers all the aspects of the professional game, including the participation of the Waratahs in the annual Super Rugby competition.
What do we stand for? As present day ambassadors for the state and for the game, every player is proud to wear the blue jersey and passionate about representing their state. Through our Tahs Together program of community activities and events, our aim is to engage with all supporters across the state - and make as many new ones as we can along the way!
Supporting grassroots rugby across NSW through NSWRU The Waratahs are proud and active supporters of the NSW rugby community, with both parties sharing each other’s success. Our long-term success depends upon a thriving community game and likewise, the more successful we are, the greater the benefit to the grassroots game. Each year, Waratahs Rugby contributes well over $1,000,000 to support the development of the grassroots game through grants and payments to the New South Wales Rugby Union. Key drivers to ensure this fee continues and grows are members, sponsors and attendances at homes games. By supporting the NSW Waratahs, you are supporting rugby at every level across the state!
Tahs Together Community Tahs Together is the Waratahs’ community program that will see players and coaches out and about joining supporters and rugby communities across NSW throughout the 2013 season and beyond. This Program gives the team an opportunity to meet fans from across the state and provides supporters with the chance to get to know the players who represent them by pulling on the NSW jersey.
From community and charity events to skills clinics, signing sessions, shopping centre visits and meet the team events, our aim is to engage with all supporters across the state, whilst at the same time supporting our rugby community and fostering a love of rugby throughout NSW.
Regular updates and posts from all our community activity are available on our Facebook page and on Twitter
