NSW Waratahs Charity Program

 

For 2017, the NSW Waratahs charity strategy has been restructured. NSW Waratahs have moved away from the ‘match day only’ charity concept with the aim to build legitimate relationships with two official charity partners.
We are proud to announce the following two successful charities as our 2017 Charity Partners:

Cancer Council NSW believes that we can and will beat cancer. Every year in NSW alone, more than 39,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed, and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant.
Together with volunteers, supporters, stakeholders and staff, Cancer Council NSW are committed to reducing the impact of cancer on individuals and the community, and to lessening the burden for people affected by cancer.

 

batyr is a ‘for purpose’ organisation that focuses on preventative education in the area of youth mental health. Despite 1 in 4 young people suffering a mental health issue by the end of adolescence, mental health issues are not openly discussed and remain the ‘elephant in the room’. Mental ill health holds a stigma that prevents open and frank exchanges and is a barrier to young people getting the help they need.

batyr provide programs that train young people to speak about their personal experience with mental ill health and start a conversation in their community.


Charity BALLOT

As a not-for-profit organisation, NSW Rugby have a longstanding tradition of supporting the work of charities from across the community. Every season NSW Rugby receive requests for from varying charitable causes. As a result, we regret that we are often unable to assist everyone with the large volume of requests we receive.

This season we have decided to introduce a monthly draw system to give all requests a fair and equal opportunity of receiving a charity donation and to show our support for the many good and worthy causes that come our way. The ballot will run each month in season from February – July with an off-season draw in October. Possible donations include a NSW Waratahs signed jersey, NSW Waratahs game day tickets, and NSW Waratahs merchandise packs.

Applications to qualify for the draw must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Only 1 application per month
  • Only requests from within the NSW Rugby region will be eligible
  • All charity requests must be accompanied by a registered charity number
  • All requests must fill out an official request form
  • All applications to be received at least one month before your event

The draw will take place on the last working day of every month and if you are successful you will be notified that day via phone or email. Should you not be contacted please assume your application has been unsuccessful. Due to the high number of requests we apologise that we cannot get back to everyone.
