Australian U20’s coach Simon Cron has named ten NSW Generation Blue players in his 48-man preliminary training squad ahead of the World Rugby U20’s Championship held in Georgia this June.

Among those is 2016 Australian U20 representative and lock Ryan McCauley, who was with the Waratahs top squad during pre-season for a second year running.

As a testament to the dominance of the NSW set piece in the 2017 Super U20’s Championship, eight forwards were named in the extending squad, including Lachlan Swinton who made his first appearance in the Sky Blue at the inaugural Brisbane Global Tens earlier this year.

Australia will play host to the Oceania Rugby U20s Championship on the Gold Coast against Fiji, Samoa and New Zealand, which begins on April 28.
