Senio Toleafoa was called in to the Tahs last year on a supplementary squad contract. He has since been promoted to an extended playing squad contract for 2017 and is one of several promising new locks for the Waratahs this year.
The 197cm, 125kg second rower is one of many NSW prospects to stake a real claim in the 2016 Buildcorp NRC as part of the Western Sydney Rams, finishing the season with two tries, 42 carries and 91 metres.
A former Samoan Under 20s representative, the 23-year-old joined fellow NSW Waratahs, Tolu Latu and Jack Dempsey in the Australian U20s in 2013.
Toleafoa grew up in Sydney’s West and has previously been a representative of West Harbour in the Shute Shield before joining the Parramatta Two Blues.
He played for the Greater Sydney Rams and Sydney Rays in the first two Buildcorp NRC seasons in 2014 and 2015.
