New signing, Sam Needs joins the NSW Waratahs squad after being offered a supplementary squad contract for 2017.
Born and raised on in South West Rocks on the mid north coast of NSW, the 25 year-old prop was a key part of the NSW Country Eagles’ successful Grand Final finishing Buildcorp NRC campaign in 2016, crossing for one try during their season.
Needs is set to join his Eagles-turned new Warringah coach, Darren Coleman at the Rats in 2017 after five years at Eastwood. He starred for their first-grade side in their 2015 Shute Shield Championship winning year and again in 2016.
Schooled at Kempsey, Needs first started playing his rugby for the South West Rocks Gaolers before a stint in the ACT with their U20s side in 2010 and 2011. Whilst there he also represent the Gungahlin Eagles at Club level. Upon his move to Sydney, Needs played for the third XV at St Joseph's in Hunters Hill.
Needs adds to a strong line-up of props within the Tahs’ 2017 squad, together with the likes of Tom Robertson, Sekope Kepu, Paddy Ryan, Matt Sandell and Angus Ta’avao.
